Ukrainian Armed Forces accuse Donbas militia of 17 truce breaches in past 24 hours
KYIV. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Militia forces of the self-proclaimed Donetsk (DPR) and Luhansk (LPR) People's Republics have opened fire on the Ukrainian army's positions 17 times in the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian presidential administration's spokesman for the army operation in Donbas Andriy Lysenko has said.
"Fire was not opened in response to these provocative strikes. Seventeen instances of shelling have been recorded. No attacks have been registered," he told a press briefing on Tuesday.
The 'adversary' was active only in the Donetsk region - near the village of Luhanske along the Svetlodar arc and in the vicinity of Mayorsk, he said, adding that only small arms and grenade launchers were used.
Random strikes against the Ukrainian Armed Forces' positions on the western outskirts of Donetsk began after 3:00 p.m. on Monday and intermittently continued until midnight, Lysenko said.
"Heavy weapons were not used during them. A sniper was firing at our positions in Maryinka," he added.
