DPA to show project marketing strategy in Q2, 2016

MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - The Diamond Producers Association (DPA) in Q2, 2016 will present the first draft of a marketing strategy, ALROSA said in a statement.

The DPA, which was created this year comprises seven of the largest diamond miners in the world: Alrosa, De Beers, Rio Tinto, Dominion Diamond, Lucara Diamond, Petra Diamonds and Gem Diamonds. The goals of the association are to support the development of the diamond sector and the promotion of marketing initiatives designed to increase consumer demand for diamonds.

ALROSA also said that company management, led by president Andrei Zharkov, met with long-term clients on December 9 over the preliminary results of this year and to discuss the state of the diamond market.

During this meeting, Zharkov said that long-term contracts remain the foundation for ALROSA's marketing policy, since it provides the company and its customers a stable supply of raw materials and protects against sharp fluctuations in price, which is especially important in the during a weaker market.

Earlier the ALROSA president said that the company expects the situation with the diamond market to stabilize and improvement could be seen in the second half of the year.
