Man holding Guinness World Record for inflating rubber bottle with nose detained on suspicion of theft in Moscow - police

MOSCOW. Dec 10 (Interfax) -The man who holds the Guinness World Record for bursting hot water bottles by inflating them with his nose has been detained in Moscow on suspicion of stealing valuables worth over one million rubles, Andrei Galiakberov, a spokesman for the Moscow city police department, told Interfax on Thursday.

"A 28-year-old Moscow resident contacted police on Wednesday evening to report that a costly watch, and money worth more than one million rubles had been stolen from his apartment," Galiakberov said.

The theft had been committed during the day, and the suspected thief had apparently entered the apartment by fitting a key when the victim was at work, he said.

Police detained three people coming from CIS countries on suspicion of committing the crime, and one of them produced a forged passport, Galiakberov said.

"The man's identity has been determined through investigative procedures. He turned out to be a judo master and the holder of the Guinness World Record for inflating a hot water bottle with his nose," he said.

A criminal case has been opened against the suspect on charges of theft and the use of deliberately forged documents, he said.
