VEB's problems won't be shock for economy - Oreshkin

MOSCOW. Dec 11 (Interfax) - The problems of Vnesheconombank (VEB) with the repayment of foreign debts and their settlement with the participation of the state will not be a shock for the Russian economy in general, Russian Deputy Finance Minister Maxim Oreshkin said.

"There absolutely will be no shock, we have, thank goodness, this is a development bank that is much smaller than the one in Brazil. From the point of view of macroeconomics, this is not a factor that may lead to serious consequences," he said, answering a question about the emergence similar problems like the ones Brazil had with its development bank.

"This really is problem, it needs to be solved. But this is more of a microeconomic problem than a macroeconomic one," he said at a conference on the macroeconomic forecast for 2016, which was organized by the Vedomosti newspaper.
