Baku accuses Armenia of Azerbaijani serviceman's death in Karabakh conflict zone

BAKU. Dec 15 (Interfax) - A serviceman from the Azerbaijani Armed Forces was killed in action on the contact line in the Karabakh conflict zone, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

"The full responsibility for tensions escalating along the contact line lies with Armenia," the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the enemy committed 96 ceasefire violations on the contact line over the past day, and the Azerbaijani Armed Forces delivered 100 strikes in return.

Another OSCE contact line monitoring mission is planned for December 16, near the village of Bala in the Karabakh conflict zone.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said the monitoring would be conducted by field assistants to the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson in Office, Peter Svedberg, and Simon Tiller on the Azerbaijani side, and Yevgeny Sharov and Jiri Aberle on the Armenian side.

The ceasefire regime in the Karabakh conflict zone was put into place in May 1994. The OSCE organizes regular field monitoring missions on the frontline with the assistance of the personal representative of the OSCE chairperson in office for the purposes of collecting information on the sides' compliance with the truce.
