Russian foreign minister held "substantive talks" with U.S. state secretary - Putin
MOSCOW. Dec 15 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has briefed the Russian president about U.S. proposals on how to resolve the Syrian crisis.
"Today you had substantive talks at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Minister Lavrov has just briefed me in detail about your proposals and certain issues that require additional discussion," Russian President Vladimir Putin said before his meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday.
"You know that together with you we are looking for solutions to most acute crises. I know that following our meetings in Paris (the meeting between the Russian and U.S. presidents on the sidelines of a climate change conference) the U.S. side prepared its vision of how to resolve these crises, including the Syrian one," the president said.
At the beginning of his meeting with Kerry, Putin joked that he struggles to keep track of the state secretary's movements.
"We struggle to keep track of you, your movements. You need some sleep and some rest," the president said.
