S. Arabia's coalition idea may prompt convention of global conference on religions' antiterrorist role - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax) - Saudi Arabia's initiative on setting up an antiterrorist coalition may prompt the convention of a global conference under the UN aegis on the role of major world religions in combating terrorism, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"I think Saudi Arabia's initiative may well serve as the starting point to consider the possibility of convening a global conference under the UN aegis, dealing with the role of all world religions in combating terror," Lavrov said at a press conference following negotiations with his Bahraini counterpart on Wednesday.
