Russia-Ukraine Free Trade Zone agreement to be suspended starting from Jan 1, 2016 - Russian president's decree
MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to suspend validity of the agreement on the Free Trade Zone between the two countries starting from January 1, 2016.
The decree published on the Russian official legal information website was signed "in view of the extraordinary circumstances affecting interests and economic security of Russia and requiring urgent measures".
"In accordance with Federal Law No.101-FZ 'On International Treaties of the Russian Federation' of July 15, 1995, Chapter 37 Paragraph 4, suspend the operation of the treaty on the free trade zone signed in St. Petersburg on October 18, 2011, with regard to Ukraine, starting from January 1, 2016," the decree states.
The president ordered the Foreign Ministry to send the due notification of suspension of the Treaty with regard to Ukraine to the depositary and the parties to the Treaty.
