U.S. expects Russia to use influence on Donbas regarding implementation of Minsk agreements - Kerry

MOSCOW. Dec 19 (Interfax) - The U.S. keeps calling on Russia to exert its influence on Donetsk and Luhansk to comply with the Minsk Agreements, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said.

"Russia also needs to exert its considerable influence over the separatists and make sure that they are living up to the agreements of Minsk," Kerry said in an interview with TV host Sergey Brilev shown in a Saturday program on the Rossiya 1 (VGTRK) channel.

"We still don't have the OSCE observers who are able to go in fully and observe. We still don't have a return of hostages. We still don't have heavy artillery that has been pulled back and retreated as it's supposed to be," he said.

"So what's important now is to try to quickly find a meeting of the minds of precisely what steps can be taken in order to end this issue," he said.
