Dolgov demands that UN, OSCE and Council of Europe react to extremists' actions in Ukraine
MOSCOW. Dec 21 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Ministry ombudsman on human rights, democracy and supremacy of law Konstantin Dolgov said there is a need for an urgent reaction from the world organizations to the actions taken by extremists on believers in the Rivne region.
"There is an urgent need for a drastic reaction from the UN, the OSCE, the Council of Europe and international human rights organizations. The Kyiv authorities should stop the extremists," Dolgov said on Twitter.
Dolgov said such actions have no relation to faith and are a massive violation of the right to freedom of religion, and are also dividing Ukrainian society even more.
According to earlier reports, a conflict over a church occurred between representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow patriarchate) and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate again in the village of Pticha, Dubna district of the Rivne region, on Friday, December 18. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow patriarchate) said members of Right Sector (an extremist organization banned in Russia) had taken the side of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv patriarchate.
