Moscow, Paris share intelligence, NATO not involved in it - French defense minister
MOSCOW. Dec 21 (Interfax) - NATO is not involved in the French-Russian exchange of intelligence on Syria despite France being its member state, French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has said
"NATO has no operations in the Iraq and Levant, so the intelligence sharing is between Russia and France only," he told reporters in Moscow on Monday.
"This is about a special mechanism that will be created to exchange data on potential terrorists and Jihadists, and on the other hand, to exchange military information, but all this will be conducted between the two countries only," said the minster, meaning France and Russia.
The French defense minister arrived in Moscow on Monday and has already had a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu.
