EU ready to help Moscow, Ankara improve relations - Brok
MOSCOW. Dec 22 (Interfax) - The European Union is ready to help improve the relationship between Russia and Turkey, if both sides request it, head of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs, Elmar Brok said in an interview with Interfax.
"If we can be helpful, the European Union, and the two partners let us know we are ready to do so," he said.
He also said that the crisis in the Russian-Turkish relations must not stand in the way of the fight against ISIL, a terrorist organization banned in Russia.
At the same time, Brok stressed that Ankara is keen to improve its relations with Moscow.
"I know from the Turkish side, from discussions with the Turkish government, that they are very much interested in finding a solution," he said.
Brok also stressed the importance of cutting off ISIL financial channels, including the proceeds from crude oil sale, and Turkey is not the only country that needs to be checked on the subject of involvement in the trade of the crude oil whose sales proceeds fund terrorists, and Saudi Arabia is possibly involved in this as well, he said.
