DPR defense ministry reports shelling of Donetsk airport, two villages
DONETSK/KYIV. Dec 25 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian military have shelled the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) nine times in the past 24 hours, said Eduard Basurin, a senior DRP defense official.
"The situation on the contact line has not changed in the past 24 hours and tends to aggravate. Despite the decision made in Minsk about total and unconditional ceasefire, the enemy has violated it nine times," Basurin told reporters on Friday.
The attacks were launched against Zaitseve, Spartak and Donetsk Airport, with 15 82-millimeter projectiles launched against the DPR, he said.
Meanwhile, the press center for Kyiv's military operation reported a shell attack on the village of Vodyane (Donetsk region) not far from Mariupol.
"On December 25 the enemy shelled Vodyane located in the so-called 'grey zone' not far from Mariupol. The shelling was carried out with 82-millimeter mortars from the village of Shyrokyne that they control. In all, five projectiles landed and blew up in and around Vodyane. Possible casualties among civilians are being ascertained," the press center said on Facebook.
