Lithuania's Amber Grid signs contract with Gazprom on gas transits to Kaliningrad for 10 years

VILNIUS. Dec 28 (Interfax/BNS) - Lithuania's Gas distribution network operator Amber Grid signed a 10-year contract with Gazprom for gas transits via Lithuania to the Kaliningrad region, Amber Grid said via the Vilnius Stock Exchange information system.

The long-term agreement was signed on December 24, and will be in effect from January 2016 until the end of 2025.

The contract provides for payment for transit services of 10 million-11 million euros per year. Amber Grid said that this corresponds with the current transit volume.

The transit capacities are 10.5 million cubic meters per day at the entry point for gas to the territory of Lithuania from Belarus, it provides the same amount of output from Lithuania to the Kaliningrad region.

The contract provides for the 'transport or pay' condition, according to which, 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas shall be transported annually.
