Russian and Iranian diplomats discuss Middle East situation with focus on Syrian settlement

MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax) - The Syrian problem was on the agenda of a recent meeting in Moscow between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, who is also the Russian president's envoy for the Middle East and African countries, and Iran's Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei.

"During the meeting, the sides discussed the current situation in the Middle East with a focus on problems surrounding the Syrian settlement [process] in the context of decisions adopted by the International Syria Support Group and the UN Security Council's Resolution 2254," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a report on Tuesday.
