DPR ready to discuss issue of elections in Donbas in Contact Group - Zakharchenko
DONETSK. Dec 30 (Interfax) - Leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Alexander Zakharchenko said he is ready to discuss the issue of the Ukrainian parties participation in the elections in Donbas within the Contact Group, but doubted whether Kyiv's stance is realistic.
"Poroshenko said in the telephone conversation, if trusting his press service [that is not the fact as the practice shows], that Ukrainian parties, media and the Central Elections Commission are to participate in the elections in Donbas. I have repeatedly said that the Kievans do not understand themselves what they are insisting on. How do they imagine agitation in Debaltseve, Ilovaisk, Horlivka or in the districts adjacent to the Donetsk airport which they had destroyed themselves?" Zakharchenko told reporters.
Meanwhile, he also said that "the question of possible participation by Ukrainian parties and media in our elections is exactly a matter for discussion in the Contact Group."
