DPR says Ukrainian military shelled Donetsk airport

DONETSK. Jan 4 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Armed Forces opened fire on the Donetsk airport area on Monday morning, the Donetsk news agency has reported, citing a source in security services of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

"The Ukrainian military began shelling the airport at around 7:00 a.m. They stopped the strikes at around 9:00 a.m.", according to the report.

Ukrainian servicemen, positioned in the village of Opytne, Yasynuvata district, were firing 82mm mortars, grenade launchers and small arms, the source said.
