Emergency Situations Ministry registers no increased radiation levels in areas bordering on N. Korea
MOSCOW. Jan 6 (Interfax) - The radiation levels on the Russian territories bordering on North Korea are within the norm, the Far Easter regional center of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry told Interfax.
"The radiation levels in the Primorye Territory are within the norm. Measurements are taken regularly, they have been taken today as well. There is no increase of radiation levels. There is no increase in the radiation levels in the neighboring regions, either,' the source said.
The media previously reported on an underground shock in the area of a North Korean nuclear testing ground. South Korean experts determined that the shock was artificial. Pyongyang later reported a successful hydrogen bomb test.
The Kremlin is expressing extreme concerns about the statements made by North Korea. Additionally, "President Vladimir Putin has ordered a thorough study of data from all measurement stations, including seismological, and an analysis of the situation if the information on the tests is confirmed," Russian presidential; press officer Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
