Rospotrebnadzor conducting all-round monitoring of wholesalers, retailers amid measures on Turkey

MOSCOW. Jan 11 (Interfax) - The Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) has tightened sanitary and quarantine control on the Russian border and has begun all-round monitoring of wholesalers and retailers, says a report published on the Rospotrebnadzor website on Monday.

"The Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing reports that, for the purposes of control over the enforcement of Russian government resolution No 1296 dated November 30, 2015, 'Measures to implement the President's Executive Order No 583 dated November 28, 2015, On Measures to Ensure the National Security of the Russian Federation against Criminal and Other Unlawful Acts and the Application of Special Economic Measures in Relation to the Republic of Turkey, sanitary and quarantine control has been tightened at checkpoints on the state border of the Russian Federation, all-round monitoring has been organized and launched for all wholesale and retail trade facilities, including chain retailers, markets and weekend fairs, and interaction with law enforcement agencies has been organized," the report said.

In the period from January 1 till 10, 2016, Rospotrebnadzor departments in constituent territories of the Russian Federation checked over 1,000 retail outlets, distribution centers and children's institutions, the report said.

Violations of sanitary and consumer right laws have been exposed in over 40% of the checked facilities (in the Moscow, Orenburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov, Chelyabinsk, Kemerovo and Ryazan regions, the Republics of Mary El, Mordovia, etc) mostly in the form of the absence of documents certifying the country of origin, the date of production and the importation into the Russian territory, as well as information about the quality and safety of goods.

"More than 360 batches (18 tonnes) of food have been removed from distribution, and administrative measures have been applied in every case of the detected violations," the report said.
