Talks on transit of Iranian gas to Georgia through Armenia not being held, Yerevan says
MOSCOW. Jan 14 (Interfax) - The Armenian authorities are denying that talks are being held with Iran and Georgia on the transit of Iranian natural gas through the republic's territory for its supply to Georgia.
"No such talks have been held with Armenian leadership," Armenian Energy and Natural Resources Minister Yervand Zakharyan told journalists on Thursday.
This issue was not discussed either at the meeting of the energy ministers of Armenia, Russia, Georgia and Iran that was held in December 2015, Zakharyan said.
Earlier Iranian information agency IRNA reported with reference to the managing director of National Iranian Gas Exports Co., Alireza Kameli, that Iran was holding talks on natural gas supplies to Georgia through Armenia.
