Aksyonov: Hague court decision on Ukrnafta lawsuit against Russia over lost gas stations in Crimea will be biased

SIMFEROPOL. Jan 14 (Interfax) - The Hague court decision on the lawsuit filed by the company Ukrnafta (Kyiv) seeking compensation for the lost Ukrainian gas stations in Crimea after the joining of the peninsula to Russia will most likely be against Russia and will be biased, Sergei Aksyonov, the head of Crimea, said.

"We will no fulfill these decisions. It is now clear that any decision made in a Western court will be against the Russian Federation, regardless of whether we are right or not," Aksyonov told reporters in Simferopol on Thursday, responding to a question from Interfax.

He said Crimea will be guided by the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin in this issue.

"I don't trust this Hague court, it will never give a fair decision on Russia. We will only be guided by a decision made by our leader on how such decisions should be treated on the territory of the Russian Federation," Aksyonov said.

Ukrnafta, one of the largest oil and gas extracting companies in Ukraine, has filed a lawsuit against Russia in the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. The company is seeking compensation for the loss of gas stations in Crimea.
