Qatari emir planned to visit Russia on January 18 - source

MOSCOW. Jan 15 (Interfax) - The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is planned to visit Russia on Monday, January 18, a diplomatic source told Interfax.

"Indeed, he will visit Russia on January 18," the source said.

Russian Deputy Energy Minister, Anatoly Yanovsky, told reporters earlier that energy cooperation would be discussed during the visit amongst other issues.

According to other sources, the situation in the region, including Syria, and the recent escalation of tensions in the relations between Iran and Gulf countries, may be highlighted during the visit.
