Naryshkin hopes State Duma to set example for resolving 'unpleasant conflict' between opposition, Chechen leadership
MOSCOW. Jan 18 (Interfax) - Russian State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin has called the conflict between human rights activists, opposition politicians and some media and representatives of the Chechen leadership "unpleasant."
"The State Duma by its behavior is setting an example of how dialogue between various political forces should be conducted, and I hope that it is helping and will help in the unpleasant conflict you are talking about," Naryshkin told reporters on Monday.
Naryshkin pointed out that he has always favored open and respectful political dialogue between the ruling party and opposition parties.
"That can be indicated by the way the State Duma is working," he said.
He pointed out that the dialogue is taking place within the norms of parliamentary ethics. "My attitude to this dialogue is indicated by the work of the council on work with parties not represented in the parliament under the State Duma speaker created by the sixth convocation of the State Duma," Naryshkin said.
During a meeting with journalists in Grozny on January 12, Kadyrov called non-system opposition "enemies of the people" and said they should face trial for sabotage.
