Naftogaz expects to discuss change in tariff for gas transit before end of January
KYIV. Jan 19 (Interfax) - Naftogaz Ukrainy hopes to hold a meeting with Gazprom before the end of January to discuss new tariffs for gas transit in connection with Ukraine's adoption of the ship-or-pay principle for pricing transit services, Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolev told journalists in Brussels on Monday.
If the talks fail to reach an agreement, the Ukrainian side reserves the right to take the matter to court.
Transit of Russian gas through Ukraine to Europe is stable and reserves of natural gas in storage are currently 20% higher than at the same time last year, while domestic consumption has declined, Kobolev said.
