No need for UN to get involved in east Ukraine peace process - Churkin
MOSCOW. Jan 19 (Interfax) - The United Nations should not interfere in the political process of resolving the situation in eastern Ukraine, says Vitaly Churkin, Russia's Ambassador to the UN.
"We believe the UN should not invade the political progress that has already been organized, in which the OSCE [Organization for Security and Co-operation] is involved, in which the Contact Group is involved," he said on the Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) television channel.
Russia would not agree to a UN Security Council mission in Ukraine, he said. He also said that he had heard no such proposals from the Ukrainian delegation.
