LPR blames Kyiv for breakdown of prisoner swap
MOSCOW. Jan 21 (Interfax) - Self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) Representative to the Trilateral Contact Group Vladislav Deinego blamed Kyiv for the breakdown of the prisoner swap at the talks in Minsk, according to the Luhansk Information Center.
"The topic of organization of the swap of illegally detained individuals was particularly hot during discussions at the humanitarian subgroup, and the debate spilled over to the Contact Group where it was also very contentious. OSCE proposed its own approach to the swap, and it's not quite what we want, but we consider it acceptable, basically," Deinego said following the meeting of the Contact Group in Minsk on Wednesday.
He further explained that LPR and DPR (the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic) have brought on their proposals on another swap "in a clear way, in accordance with the OSCE requirements, but Ukraine has rejected them".
It was reported earlier that Kyiv places the responsibility for the breakdown of the prisoner swap on DPR and LPR.
