Kremlin spokesman Peskov sees no reasons to talk about ruble exchange rate collapse
MOSCOW. Jan 21 (Interfax) - The ruble exchange rate is currently volatile, but there are no reasons to talk about its collapse, says Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
"I wouldn't use the word collapse. It's true that the exchange rate is changing, the rate is volatile, but this is far from a collapse," Peskov told journalists on Thursday.
"There are no reasons to presume that the Central Bank doesn't have plans aimed at preventing really collapsing changes," he said.
"We have a mega-regulator. The Central Bank is following the situation and analyzing it quite thoroughly," Peskov said.
"The Russian president has no special meetings planned before the end of this week; at the same time, there is a meeting with government members on next week's schedule," he said.
It is quite possible that, "within these or those formats of communication with government members, discussions on economic issues might take place," Peskov said.
