Russia may maintain 2016 coal production at 2015 level - Energy Ministry

KEMEROVO. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Russia may maintain coal production in 2016 at the 2015 level, Deputy Energy Minister Anatoly Yanovsky said in Kemerovo on Tuesday at a conference on the coal industry.

Russian enterprises produced 373 million tonnes of coal in 2015, Yanovsky said.

"We forecast that production this year will be at roughly the same level that was achieved in 2015," he said.

Coal production in January 2016 was higher than in January 2015, he said. "The statistics provide evidence that production this year may be greater than last year," he said.
