We have nothing to return - Lavrov on Crimea
MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Russia is not in talks with anyone on returning Crimea, it is Russian territory, there is nothing to return, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We have nothing to return, we are not conducting any talks with anyone on returning Crimea, Crimea is the territory of the Russian Federation in full compliance with the expression of will by the peoples of Crimea," Lavrov told a press conference summing up the results of the year 2015.
The minister also said that these are all Crimean peoples, "including those who did not have any rights under Ukrainian rule and who acquired rights, including to national language, when Crimea reintegrated into Russia upon conducting a referendum."
On January 20, Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko said at the economic forum in Davos that Ukraine was planning to set up a forum like the Geneva format, which will include Russia, Ukraine, the European Union and the United States, in order to start a dialogue on bringing back Crimea.
