By accusing Russia of violating its air space Turkey is trying to cover its oil trade with ISIL - Federation Council
MOSCOW. Jan 31 (Interfax) - Turkey is playing a political game by declaring an increase level of alarm at its air bases, Viktor Ozerov, the head of the Russian Federation Council committee on defense and security, said.
"These are political steps. We are not going to conquer Turkey. And the fact that they are trying to show threats and use such actions to cover their oil trade with ISIL is already a political game. Turkey is, of course, a great military power, but we are not going t go to war with them," Ozerov told Interfax on Sunday.
Turkey earlier accused a Russian warplane of violating the Turkish air space. The Russian Defense Ministry denies these accusations.
"There has been no violation of the Turkish airspace by aircraft of the Russian aviation group in the Syrian Arab Republic. Turkey's allegations that a Russian [Sukhoi] Su-34 aircraft violated its airspace is baseless propaganda," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told Interfax on Saturday.
In the meantime, according to media reports, Turkey declared an increased (code orange) level of alarm at its air bases and out its Air Force on full combat readiness.
Ozerov said he trusts the position of the Russian Defense Ministry.
