Kasyanov to turn to police over threatening video published on Kadyrov's Instagram page

MOSCOW. Feb 1 (Interfax) - PARNAS party chairman Mikhail Kasyanov will turn to the police in connection with the video posted on the Instagram page of Chechen Republic head Ramzan Kadyrov, which depicted a sniper rifle sight aimed at Kasyanov.

"I see this as a direct threat to murder a statesman, the way it is formulated in the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. I will seek advice from jurists and, most probably, will file a statement containing this classification with the law enforcement authorities," Kasyanov told Interfax on Monday.

The PARNAS chairman said he was also expecting a reaction from the Russian president.

"Vladimir Putin is the guarantor of the national constitution, and besides, he is vested with powers to manage operative bodies. Therefore, he cannot help but react to such anti-constitutional actions of heads of constituent territories of the country," Kasyanov said.

A video depicting a sniper rifle sight aimed at Kasyanov, former Russian Prime Minister and chair of the PARNAS party, was published on Kadyrov's Instagram page on Monday.

"Kasyanov has come to Strasbourg for money for the Russian opposition. Those who have failed to understand before, will understand now," reads the caption beneath the video posted on Kadyrov's Instagram page. The video also depicts Vladimir Kara-Murza Junior, a journalist and the PARNAS deputy chair.

At his meeting with the press in Grozny, in the middle of January, Kadyrov branded the Russian non-systemic opposition as 'enemies of the people' and said that they should be tried for subversive activity.
