Federation Council members to visit Palestine, Israel, to meet with officials in upcoming days
MOSCOW. Feb 2 (Interfax) - A Federation Council delegation led by Federation Council Chairperson, Valentina Matviyenko, will visit Palestine and Israel in the upcoming days to meet with officials from those countries.
"A meeting with the President, Palestine Liberation Organization Chairman, Mahmoud Abbas, is planned within the framework of the working visit to the State of Palestine," the Federation Council press service said in a report.
The visit program also includes visitation to the Russian Center of Science and Culture, the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society's center, the School of Russian-Palestinian Friendship, and a multi-functional Russian center built in the fall of 2015.
The Russian delegation will pay an official visit to Israel.
"During negotiations with the national leaders, the Russian parliamentarians will discuss the prospects for bilateral interaction, and the situation in the Middle East. In the words of Valentina Matviyenko, Russia and Israel are two equal partners, which demonstrate high efficiency of their interaction both in key areas of international politics and in bilateral cooperation," the report said.
The Federation Council chairperson will attend a meeting of the Israeli parliament and meet with Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein.
The Federation Council members will also have a meeting with representatives from the Israel-Russia inter-parliamentary friendship association.
