Austrian vice-chancellor assigns important role to Russia in solving problems of Syria, refugee influx in Europe
GORKI. Feb 3 (Interfax) - Russia is playing an important role in the achievement of lasting peace in Syria, and has a vast potential to be involved in the resolution of migrant problems in Europe, Austrian Vice-Chancellor Reinhold Mitterlehner, said.
He told Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, on Wednesday, that Russia was highly significant for the resolution of the Syria problem, and the establishment of lasting peace in that region. He said that steps against terrorism needed to be taken worldwide.
Austria has been suffering from problems with terrorism, too, he said. First of all, this happens due to the influx of refugees in Europe, the vice-chancellor noted. If it were possible to find a joint solution to the problem, Russia would have very a large opportunity to engage in the joint work on the refugee problem, he said.
