Kadyrov's press secretary asks EU ambassador to Russia to explain accusations

MOSCOW. Feb 3 (Interfax) - Alvi Karimov, the press secretary of head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, has criticized Head of the EU Delegation to Russia Vygaudas Usackas for acting in a manner unsuitable for a diplomat by leveling unfounded accusations at Kadyrov.

Karimov's letter to Usackas, shared with Interfax, notes, in particular, that the website of the EU Delegation to Russia had published a report earlier on Usackas's telephone conversation with opposition politician Mikhail Kasyanov.

"We were utterly perplexed by your words that you were 'shocked by such undisguised threats, which cannot be tolerated'," Karimov said.

"In this context, we see to believe that we should receive explanations as to what 'statements by President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov in Instagram' contained 'undisguised murder threats'," Karimov said.

"We would also appreciate it if we could know, on what kind of linguistic analysis your conclusions about 'murder threats' are based," Karimov said.
