Russian-Turkish relations will normalize if Ankara meets number of conditions - Naryshkin

MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Russian Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin has said the Turkish-Russian relationship has prospects, if the Turkish president apologizes to Russia, punishes those responsible for the attack on a Russian bomber aircraft and the pilot's death, and reviews his policy on Syria.

"One can confidently say that the Russian-Turkish relations are living through difficult times, that is true. But there are always prospects, there is always a way out of any situation. First of all, the Turkish side, in the person of President Erdogan, must bring sincerest apologies, punish those responsible and review its policy on the situation in Syria," Naryshkin said in an interview with the Russia Today television channel which was aired in Arabic.

"Now it is obvious to the whole world that Turkey has, unfortunately, been aiding the terrorist organization ISIL [banned in Russia] by buying oil and providing other support to terrorist gangs," Naryshkin said.

"This, of course, is incompatible with the behavior of a civilized state which has the obligation to help international community fight the threat that is looming over the world, I mean international terrorism," the Duma speaker said.
