DIA could pay Intercommerz Bank shareholders 64.8 bln rubles

MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - The Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) could pay an estimated 64.8 billion rubles to account holders at Intercommerz Bank, which has had its license revoked, the DIA told Interfax.

"As of January 27, 2015, private individuals had 69.5 billion rubles in deposits with Intercommerz. By preliminary estimates, the DIA may be liable to cover 64.8 billion rubles," the agency said.

This would be a record amount, higher even than the 45 billion rubles in compensation payable to depositors with Vneshprombank.

The DIA said that regardless of the quantity and scale of insurance events, the insurance fund would always have sufficient resources for payouts, and all depositors would be able to receive insurance cover on deposits in the prescribed deadlines.
