Russian atomic industrial hurt by "informal sanctions" - Kiriyenko

MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - Though not affected by Western sanctions directly, the Russian atomic industry faces informal sanctions abroad, which can sometimes pose more problems than the formal ones, Rosatom chief Sergey Kiriyenko has said.

Speaking at the Kurchatov Research Institute on Monday, he said that, today, the atomic industry faces "new challenges" which consist of political restrictions. "No one [abroad] ever waited for us anyway, but now, not only are they not waiting, they are also trying to counteract aggressively," he said.

"Although no formal sanctions [were introduced] against our atomic industry, there are, of course, informal ones, and these are sometimes tougher than the formal sanctions," the Rosatom chief said.
