Russia had 0.2% inflation in week, annual down to nearly 9%
MOSCOW. Feb 10 (Interfax) - Russia had 0.2% inflation for the week February 2-10, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.
Consumer prices went up 0.2% the previous three weeks also, and 0.3% in the first 11 days of the year. They had grown 0.2% since February 1 and 1.2% since January 1.
Consumer prices shot up 6.2% in January-February last year due to the ruble's sharp devaluation in December 2014. Due to the high base last year, inflation in annual terms is now falling rapidly: this fell from 12.9% to 9.8% during January this year and, on the basis of the latest Rosstat figures, it was down to 9.1-9.2% by February 8.
Average daily price growth has been 0.027% so far this month. If this persists, inflation for the whole of February might be 0.8%, down from 1% in January, and inflation in annual terms might be 8.3% by the end of the month.
In the past week, granulated sugar rose 1.2% in price, frozen fish - 0.7% and mutton, kolbasa sausage, smetana cream, milk and tea went up 0.3-0.4%, but eggs fell 0.7%, pork - 0.4% and chickens - 0.3%.
Fruit and vegetables averaged up 0.9%, with growth of 1.6% for apples and 1.1% for carrots, but onion fell 0.3%.
Gasoline prices were unchanged but diesel fell 0.1%.
