It is important to develop cooperation with EU - Kyrgyz president

BISHKEK. Feb 10 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev discussed Kyrgyzstan's main foreign political priorities for 2016, in particular, development of cooperation with the European Union, with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldayev on Wednesday, the presidential press service reported.

Abdyldayev informed Atambayev on the upcoming participation of a Kyrgyz delegation in the 14th meeting of the Kyrgyzstan-EU Cooperation Council, at which a number of issues aimed at the further development and expansion of bilateral partnership is expected to be discussed, the press service told Interfax.

Abdyldayev also reported on prospects for the expansion of Kyrgyzstan-EU trade and economic cooperation, in particular, exports of Kyrgyz goods to the European countries with regard to Kyrgyzstan's status of larger preferences in trade with the EU, it said.

"President Atambayev, in turn, noted the importance of the further development of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the EU, as well as the implementation of projects in various spheres," the press service said.
