KESSAB (Syria). Feb 12 (Interfax) - The population of Kessab, a Syrian city situated in the Latakia province, near the Turkish border, has received humanitarian aid from Russia and the Syrian authorities.

On Thursday morning, two Ilyushin Il-76 military transport planes from the Russian Air Force, arrived in the Russian Hmeimim airbase to deliver about 50 tonnes of humanitarian aid for Syrian residents. The aid will go to the residents of Syrian cities and regions that are besieged by terrorist groups. The planes brought food, medicines, clothes, school supplies and gifts for children: sweets and toys.

Latakia Governor, Ibrahim Khder al-Saalem, said on Friday, that some of the Russian relief had been sent to Deir ez-Zor, which remained under siege by radicals, and the other was distributed between Syrian cities.
