Dixy revenue growth accelerates to 15.2% in Jan

MOSCOW. Feb 12 (Interfax) - The Dixy Group, a major Russian retailer, increased its revenue by 15.2% year-on-year to 23.47 billion rubles in January, the company reported in a press release.

The retailer's revenue growth in January accelerated from 14.5% in the previous month.

Retail revenue at Dixy neighborhood stores, the group's main format, rose 17.1% in January year-on-year to 19.03 billion rubles, compared with a year-on-year increase of 16.9% in December.

Retail revenue in the Victoria division was up 16.5% to 2.5 billion rubles in January. Neighborhood stores in the division increased retail revenue 5% to 455.2 million rubles and its CASH stores boosted retail revenue 3% to 85.5 million rubles.

In the megamart division, megamart and minimart stores saw retail revenue drop 3.8% to 1.37 billion rubles.

The pace of expansion slowed in January compared with the same month last year: Dixy opened 11 new stores and closed nine in January 2016 compared with 30 net openings (including closures) in January 2015.

Selling space increased 20% to 909,500 square meters at the end of January, when the chain had 2,710 stores, including 2,564 neighborhood stores.

Dixy's total revenue rose 30.7% in January 2015 year-on-year. The pace of revenue growth has declined since then, to 18.9% in December (retail revenue up 19.1%).
