Power of latest Dagestan explosion equivalent to around 30 kg of TNT - anti-terror committee
MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - The bomb that went off in a car outside a traffic police station in Dagestan's Derbent district consisted of two artillery shells whose power is estimated at 30 kilograms of TNT equivalent, the National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAK) has said.
"The FSB [Federal Security Service] bomb disposal experts who examined the scene (...) have established that the explosion was caused by detonation of an improvised explosive device based on two artillery shells with a yield of around 30 kilograms in TNT equivalent," the NAK said in a press release obtained by Interfax on Monday.
The explosion killed two police officers and injured seven others; six civilians have also been injured, the spokesperson said
"Dagestan investigators have launched a criminal inquiry to ascertain all of the circumstances which led to the crime," the spokesperson said.
It was reported that a Lada Priora vehicle exploded outside a traffic police station in Dagestan's Derbent District on Monday.
