Fifty command points take part in RVSN training in Western, Central Military Districts - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax-AVN) - A command post training exercise has begun in six units of the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) located in the Central and Western Military Districts, the Russian Defense Ministry's press service and information department has reported.

"The command post exercise involves a total of some 50 command points of the operative-tactical and tactical links," a report obtained by Interfax-AVN on Wednesday says.

The report says the command post training of the command bodies is being conducted in accordance with the RVSN training plan, which envisages the participation of eight units located in territory from the Tver to the Irkutsk regions.

"During the training, the missile battalions of the land-based Topol mobile missile system of the Barnaul and Yoshkar-Ola missile units practice the use of chemical weapons by a reconnaissance group. According to the exercise script, saboteurs used chemical landmines equipped with toxic VX nerve agents," the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

The report states that strategic missile units previously fulfilled a special comprehensive task to repel an attack by a hypothetical enemy and a combat training task to carry out a simulated missile launch. Additionally, measures to increase protection and camouflage were taken and a set of technical and tactical exercises was conducted.

"In 2016, the RVSN plans to carry out over 100 command post, tactical and special training exercises. During the strategic missile units' combat training events, a joint task involving units of the Aerospace Forces, the Main Investigative Department, and also units of the Federal Security Service and the Russian Interior Ministry was planned," the report says.
