Kyiv observes over 50 militia attacks on its positions over past day
KYIV. Feb 19 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian military operation staff observed 55 attacks by the militia from the self-proclaimed Donbas republics, in southeastern Ukraine, in the period from 6 a.m. on Thursday through 6 a.m. on Friday, including 22 shelling incidents in the Maryinka area.
"The enemy conducted 22 precision attacks by use of mortars, grenade launchers, and small arms on ATO forces' strongholds in Maryinka," the staff press center wrote on Facebook in the morning.
A sniper and an air defense launcher from the militia attacked the Maryinka checkpoint, it said.
According to the report, Ukrainian army positions came under attack from small arms, and various types of grenade launchers, in Pisky, Opytne, Avdiivka, Mayorsk and Novhorodske. The militia fired a mortar on the Ukrainian stronghold in Zaytseve, the staff said.
The militia fired small arms and infantry combat vehicle weapons on Ukrainian fortifications in Starohnativka and Luhanske, it said.
In the Luhansk sector, Ukraine positions were attacked by mortars, small arms and grenade launchers near Bohuslavske, the report said.
