Four MiG-29 fighters join Russian airbase in Armenia

YEREVAN. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Four fourth generation MiG-29 fighters and a modernized Mi-8MT transport helicopter have joined the Russian Erebuni airbase in the Southern Military District in Armenia following an overhaul, the Southern Military District's press service said in a statement.

The planes and the helicopter were delivered to a military airfield in Yerevan from the Krasnodar territory on board military transport planes, the press service said.

"The fourth-plus generation frontline fighters and the Mi-8MT helicopter will be assembled by the airbase's engineering staff and put into operation. The airbase's pilots will start flight tests of the MiG-29 fighters in mid-March this year," it said.

A modernized MiG-29S has also been delivered to the airbase.
