Task force for cessation of hostilities in Syria postpones meeting set for Saturday - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - A meeting of the task force on the cessation of hostilities in Syria planned originally for Saturday in Geneva has been postponed, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"A meeting of the task force on the cessation of hostilities within the International Syria Support Group (ISSG), which was scheduled for today in Geneva, has been postponed. We will announce the new date later," ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told journalists.

"The ISSG member-states are continuing consultations," she said.

It was reported earlier that Russian and U.S. officials had met in Geneva on Friday to discuss a truce in Syria. The task force for cessation of hostilities in Syria, which had been put together in line with the agreements reached at an ISSG meeting in Munich on February 11-12, was expected to meet the same day. A Russian diplomatic source told Interfax the task force's meeting was unlikely to take place on Friday and would be postponed to Saturday.
