Central Bank holding internal inquiry into Vneshprombank situation
MOSCOW. Feb 29 (Interfax) - The Central Bank of Russia has begun an internal inquiry into the situation with Vneshprombank , which has been stripped of its licenses, Central Bank First Deputy Governor Alexei Simanovsky said.
"We've begun an internal investigation. So far nobody has seriously been brought to account," he said, when asked by Valentina Matviyenko, speaker of the Federation Council, how it came to be that Vneshprombank functioned in an unsatisfactory condition for a long time and whether anybody had borne responsibility for this.
"Somebody from the Central Bank ought to be held seriously to account" as the result of the internal investigation, Matviyenko said.
