Kremlin says talks with oil producers yet to join oil output freeze to continue
MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - Talks with oil producing nations that have not signed up to the initiative to freeze oil output will continue, Dmitry Peskov, the Russian president's spokesman, told reporters.
"It was underlined that of course it is still necessary to continue work with major producers, that is countries, because there is still uncertainty regarding a number of producing nations. Many countries have joined [the oil production freeze agreement] but there are still some countries that have not entirely clarified [their position]," he said, commenting on yesterday evening's meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and oil company bosses.
At the meeting on Tuesday, Putin said that the Energy Ministry "did good work with the partners-oil producing countries on the subject of maintaining oil production at the January level," Peskov said.
"That is precisely the idea that the president noted in his remarks. [Energy Minister Alexander] Novak held those talks abroad. This thesis was on the agenda of yesterday's meeting," he said.
