Russian sport minister may visit Switzerland in March as co-chair of trade inter-gov't commission

MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - Swiss authorities expect that Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko, will visit the country in March as a co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation, Swiss Ambassador to Moscow Pierre Helg said.

"In mid-March, the joint economic commission, in which Vitaly Mutko is included, will hold a meeting in Switzerland. He will hold meetings with colleagues from our government," he said at a reception on the occasion of International Women's Day, in response to an Interfax question about scheduled contact between Switzerland and Russia.

Meanwhile, the ambassador said that he did not have information whether Mutko would meet with new FIFA President from Switzerland, Gianni Infantino.

"I believe that Mutko should be asked this question (about a possible meeting with the FIFA president). But I know that he is working very actively and constructively with FIFA. I believe that he also actively supported the candidacy of Infantino," Helg also said.
