Over 40 humanitarian aid requests received by Russian Center in Syria over past 24 hrs
MOSCOW. March 9 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Center for reconciliation of the warring sides in Syria continues to receive petitions containing information about shellings and humanitarian aid requests.
"The Russian Center for reconciliation received 44 applications in the past 24 hours. The absolute majority of them (34) contained humanitarian aid requests and information about shellings," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a bulletin posted on its website on Wednesday.
A meeting with officials of the Ministry for National Reconciliation of the Syrian Arab Republic was held in the Russian Center, to discuss the humanitarian aid to be provided to the populated area of Ruheibah, the Damascus province, the ministry said.
It was resolved at the meeting to send a Russian convoy with humanitarian cargo to Ruheibah, it said.
Work is still underway to restore ruined infrastructure of the residential communities that signed agreements to cease fire. Work is underway to resume water and electricity supplies to the residential community of Hubub al-Rih in the Homs province, it said.
The Russian ministry confirmed the information that on February 29, 2016, members of the armed gangs led by Mashoor Ghassan Kanakri, and Ziad al-Hariri, kidnapped Zaidan al-Serat, a former officer of the Syrian army, who led the committee for reconciliation in Egbaah.
Until March 7, 2016, Zaidan al-Serat was kept in the prison of Busra al-Sham, the Al-Suwayda province, according to the Center.
